I started making my 3-part cards early in 2014 for my then 3 year old daughter. As an educator and linguist myself, I found the concept absolutely genius. Children learn best through play, and this is an ideal way to incorporate learning new vocabulary, develop problem solving as well as pre-reading and early reading skills.

I love how 3-part cards grow with your child. Early on the task is to match an object to a picture and learn new vocabulary. Once they have mastered that, you can play "detective" and have them try to match a word label to the picture word card. This can be done even by children who cannot read yet. They work on isolating symbols, developing concentration, learning initial sounds. And later the picture word card goes away and serves as control of error when they work on matching a picture card to the label.

When you have accumulated as many cards as I have, you realize that storage becomes an issue. Printing on white card stock was no longer an option as cards would get mixed up and then you have to look at each one individually to figure out which set it belongs to. That's why I have decided to color code them. I have also designed a partitioned storage pouch in matching color. This way clean up and storage are a breeze, even a two year old can do it, literally.

Not only are my cards beautiful, but also they are classroom sturdy and completely waterproof. You can stir your coffee with it. Make sure it's not too hot though, your card might get warped :)

Images used in my work are either public domain images or were obtained through sites that offer commercial use license without attribution required. When images that require attribution are used, you will find the source on the bottom right hand corner of the picture.
